Join Our Mission

The Family Specialist is responsible for coordinating therapeutic activities for youth and families so youth can live safely, productively and independently within their home community.

* Specialist will be located Gloversville Group Homes.

Job Responsibilities

* Maintains positive partnership with referring agency including coordinating required services for youth and families, maintaining timely and effective communication regarding case activities.

* Assists with providing crisis intervention services for youth experiencing acute distress and dysfunctional behaviors to address safety concerns.

* Provides supportive case work counseling to youth and families including all assessments, treatment and discharged plans.

* Coordinates psycho-educational groups as needed.

* Schedules and ensures youth's home visits are goal oriented and work toward building trust, communication and healthy relationships.

* Facilitate comprehensive treatment reviews according to agency and state regulations.

* Completes all state mandated and agency documentation according to policy and regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements

* Minimum of Bachelor's degree in social work or related field required. MSW preferred.

* Minimum of 1-3 yrs. of experience working with diverse youth and families.

* Must be able to work a flexible schedule including night and weekend hours as necessary.

* Must have a valid driver's license. Travel required.

* Ability to work with economically and culturally diverse population.

* Skills: Ability to handle crisis intervention in solution focused manner as well as communication skills including written, verbal and listening skills.
