Join Our Mission

The Custodian is responsible for performing a variety of custodial tasks in the cleaning and care of one or more buildings, adjacent grounds/sidewalks and trash removal. This is located at our Juvenile Secure Detention Facility in Loudonville, NY.

Job Responsibilities

* Accountable for cleaning and maintaining buildings/facilities of assigned area, adjacent grounds and sidewalks (i.e. mopping, washing, dusting, polishing, cleaning, moving furniture etc.) using a variety of cleaning substances, products and equipment).

* Assist with the cleaning, repair, removal and moving of furniture from or within various locations.

* Responsible for removal of snow from public areas, including sidewalks, parking lots and entryways.

* Lead and supervise Workforce Development Program youth including mentoring, coaching and teaching youth in all facets of custodial tasks including cleaning and care of buildings, grounds and sidewalks.

* Acts as a positive role model and maintains boundaries with all youth; must report any incidents with youth directly to supervisor. Must complete and submit weekly progress notes for assigned youth.

* Assumes responsibility to manage and reduce risk where it is seen in his or her area(s) of responsibility and to report it if it is outside of his or her area(s) of responsibility or assistance is needed to resolve the matter. Assures that health and safety risks are controlled or removed

Job Requirements

* Minimum High School Diploma/GED required.

* Minimum 1-3 years of experience in custodial field.

* Valid driver's license required.

* Experience working with at risk youth and/or non-profit experience preferred.

* Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

* Ability to work with an economically and culturally diverse population.

* Skills: organizational and communication skills including attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and written and oral communication skills.

Schedule:

  • 7am to 3pm, Monday - Friday
