Senior Payroll Analyst

Status: Exempt (Salary)

Department: Finance/Accounting

Location: Latham, NY or Rochester, NY (Hybrid - 3 days in office / 2 days remote)

Position Summary

The Senior Payroll Analyst is a critical member of the Financial Shared Services team. This role provides support for all payroll functions. The ideal candidate should exhibit exceptional customer service skills, and a positive attitude. The Senior Payroll Analyst will interface on a regular basis with other departments including but not limited to Human Resources. The Senior Payroll Analyst will also be expected to interact professionally with all employees of Plug Power. The ideal candidate will also exhibit care and discretion with the sensitive nature of payroll and personal data. Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the relocation, stock related compensation and expatriate processing, ensuring smooth transitions and adherence to relevant tax and legal requirements.
  • Conduct thorough account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to payroll transactions, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Lead Year End processing activities, including preparation of tax documents and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee W2 corrections and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Utilize strong Excel skills to analyze and present payroll data effectively.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Workday to optimize payroll processing efficiency.
  • Stay informed about changes in payroll regulations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll always representing Plug Power in a professional manner and in all interactions.
  • Build and maintain effective cross-functional relationships within the organization.
  • Engage with cross-functional partners proactively in completion of job responsibilities.
  • Communicate payroll-related updates to the organization in a clear and effective manner.
  • Approach all work activities with a customer service focus being mindful of HR as a service department in support of the organization.
  • Evaluate work processes on an ongoing basis; seek efficiencies and make appropriate suggestions for process improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address payroll-related inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience as a Senior Payroll Analyst or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with Workday is a plus.
  • Knowledge of federal and state payroll laws and regulations.
  • Approach all work activities with a customer service focus.
  • Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP's, pivot tables, SUMIFS), and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Uncompromising dedication to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

  • Exempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities. This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week.

Pay Rate:

$69,900.00 - $104,900.00
