CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Designer to join our Power & Manufacturing - Utilities Infrastructure/Electric Transmission Team remotely from home.

Our expertise extends to various insulation mediums, including air, gas, liquid, or solid, catering to transmission, distribution, and generation needs. We seamlessly handle AC/DC conversion across diverse applications, from traditional fossil fuels to cutting-edge renewable energy projects, and our proficiency extends to working with electrical-mechanical systems, seamlessly transitioning from legacy to intelligent protection and control systems. Our recognition in the industry is a testament to our prowess in automation, SCADA, communication design, and engineering.

At CHA, the Senior Designer leads the research, preparation, and creation of various types of contract, or construction, drawings. This professional in this role will collaborate with senior engineering designers, mentor junior engineering designers and collaborate with design teams on multiple projects in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet client, contractual and company requirements. Additionally, the individual in this role oversees the work of junior and mid-level designers and provides guidance as needed to ensure quality work is produced.

More specifically, responsibilites include:

    Independently produces and revises routine drawings, or sketches, related to the engineering design with minimal oversight from a senior, or principal engineering designer using the standards established by the technical group
  • Independently examines complex contract documents or drawings for errors. Examines more multiple complex documents for errors with the assistance of a senior or principal engineering designer
  • Has proficient knowledge of the engineering discipline standards, codes, and systems through assisting with contract document preparation
  • Familiar with company standards, client expectations and typical engineering practices.
  • Has the ability to independently establish simple or routine contract drawings pertaining to engineering discipline, related products or technical specifications
  • Has the ability to produce lists, standards, and coordinate with contract specifications for typical engineering design related items
  • Uses drawing production software (REVIT, AutoCAD, MicroStation etc.) to create construction documents
  • Capable of independently completing simple field assignments when appropriate
  • Capable of preparing project "As-Builts" documentation with little to no oversight
  • Participates in project review meetings
  • Aides in the development of technical reports, material costs and construction estimates
  • Aides senior engineers in developing man-hour estimates and production schedules

REQUIREMENTS
  • Associates Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Science or related technical field required
  • Minimum 7 years' experience required with document production in the related engineering discipline
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist senior or principle level engineering designers, senior engineering and project management staff
  • Proficient with discipline-based software (REVIT, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrates a strong ability in design drawing layout and working knowledge about the respective engineering discipline
