POSITION SUMMARY
The primary task for the Retail/Rental Bike Technician is to process bike rental reservations, complete required pre/post rental bike inspection, complete basic repairs when needed, and provide basic instruction for proper and safe bike operation to guests. The Bike technician will also ensure that guests are properly fitted with protective equipment, work with the lead mechanic on any significant repairs needed and upkeep the general cleanliness of the First Run Ski Shop rental bike fleet.
This position will work a variety daytime, weekend and holiday shifts with the goal being to maximize the efficiency of rental operation each day. The Retail/Rental Bike Shop Technician will be required to work unsupervised at times and should be able to demonstrate exemplary guest experience through professionalism and knowledge of the trails, the mountain and surrounding area.
This position has potential to transition into the winter season for the right candidate, selling, renting skis, and fitting ski and snowboard boots. The compensation for this role is $20.00/hr.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Process and dispatch bike rentals to guests along with necessary protective equipment
Ensure accuracy in the rental check out and check in of bikes and equipment
Perform any necessary simple repairs such as flat tire, derailleur adjustment, brake adjustment and any other rudimentary repair a guest may come in with
Perform mountain bike safety inspection pre and post rental
Ensure that all steps are taken to promote safety of the guest by proper completion of paperwork, sizing, and protective equipment suggestion on use in the bike park
Work with lead mechanic, supervisor, and/or manager to complete any significant repairs
Perform daily opening and closing procedures including the POS station, cleanliness, signage, and flags
Operation of cash register with accuracy including document completion for rental process
Inform rental guests of bike damage policy
Perform daily shop cleaning, organization and merchandising of retail product and equipment
Provide information about the resort, bike park, rental, and repair shop services available
Providing guests with knowledge and expertise in the product sold and offered in the retail area.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Diploma or GED or in progress.
Experience: Previous experience working on bikes, in a retail bike shop as a sales associate with an overall solid knowledge of all types of bikes required.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 16 years of age or older
Knowledge of Stratton's trail system, terrain park, and summer/winter program desired
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Able to stand through most of shift
Able to lift bikes weighing 50 lbs. or more
Able have the dexterity to work with tools and small pieces
This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
