Job Description
Division: Human Resources Department: Human Resources Reports to: SVP, Human Resources Status: Non-Exempt Grade: 7 Pay range: $20.50 - $30.50 Location: Hybrid / Pittsfield, MA - 99 North St Purpose/Objective: Assists with the payroll processing for the bank and its subsidiaries. Manages the timekeeping system to ensure accuracy and timecard compliance. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations related to payroll processing. Keeps abreast of tax laws and tax implications for all aspects of compensation. Provides back up and support to the AVP, Payroll Manager and the Human Resources team as needed. Key Accountabilities: * Assist in processing payroll for bank and subsidiaries on a bi-weekly basis. Serves as a fully trained back up to AVP, Payroll Manager. Works with manager on timely and accurate processing of payrolls via ADP Payroll and eTime timekeeping systems. Maintains supporting documentation for audit trails, i.e., manages time & attendance system; trains new managers as hired. Reviews attendance activity periodically and reports on excessive punch edits and meal break violations for further action. Ensures payroll changes are handled timely and accurately. Computes and processes manual, nonstandard, and/or correction transactions. Keeps abreast of laws, regulations, and taxation pertinent to all aspects of payroll. Provides technical support for ADP Workforce Now employee portal for all employees and managers. * Prepare periodic government reports related to compensation and employment verifications to ensure accurate and timely information. * Provides confidential support to various areas of Human Resources. Serves as a resource in fielding routine employee questions regarding compensation, benefits, and interpretation of employment policies. * Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one's duties. Education: * Associate degree or equivalent work experience * Accounting courses a plus Experience: * 3+ years processing payroll experience preferred. * ADP Payroll experience a plus * General Human Resources experience * Customer service experience Skills & Knowledge: * Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. * Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite * Detail oriented, organized, and professional * Self-started, fast learner, and adaptable * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Exceptional customer service experience Berkshire Bank is an Equal Opportunity Employer - all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or national origin.
