Overview

Looking for an inventive, aspiring actuarial student, ideally with pricing experience. This person will work closely with underwriting and other actuarial staff to segment our retail workers' compensation portfolio to improve profitability and encourage growth. Effectively communicating the results of your work to technical and non-technical audiences are key.

AmTrust is an innovative, customer-centric leader in workers' compensation with $2.5 billion dollars in premium in the retail space. We are looking for someone who will add skillsets to our team in driving results. Ideally, this person can assist with making creative methodology changes, driving a process to a conclusion while meeting critical deadlines and/or improving team workflow.

Responsibilities
    Refresh analyses or perform new analyses, the collaborate to improve the processes, with decreasing supervision
  • Provide formal written communication and documentation of analyses
  • Work with other team members to create new templates to improve pricing and planning inputs
  • Actively participate in discussions where recommendations are presented to the business. Monitor changes agreed to in the meetings.
  • Prepare state filing materials and respond to objections
  • Work with teammates to prepare influential underwriting and management presentations
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on pricing and rate development
  • Assist in fitting, testing and implementing predictive models
  • Maintain and update SQL and SAS code used in pulling data for various analyses
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science, or financial related field.
  • One to three years of actuarial experience.
  • Actively pursuing exams, with goal of becoming FCAS.
  • Understanding of insurance, underwriting, reinsurance, sales, and financials.
  • Ability to critically problem solve and use business knowledge in developing solutions.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Adept with programming languages / software such as SAS, R, SQL, and/or other statistical programming languages preferred
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse skillsets

The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future.
