The Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) is a skilled nursing facility seeking a compassionate and motivated Nurse Supervisor for the Day Shift to join our team in providing care to our veterans and members with the dignity and respect that they so rightfully deserve. The Vermont Veterans' Home provides best of class healthcare services to Veterans, their spouses and gold star parents while honoring their choices and respecting their right of self-determination. We provide person-centered care and all residents/families are encouraged to be active participants. We provide clinical oversight along with a wide range of services for long term and short stay admissions.

Nursing supervisors work with the resident providers, administration and manage nursing care plans, as well as instruct patients and their families in proper treatment for the highest level of function/quality of life. Our Nurse Supervisor performs supervisory, advisory and clinical care functions at VVH for the population of patients during the assigned shift. The incumbent ensures the provision of a full range of services to veterans and members with a variety of needs. The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for high level clinical decision-making and provides leadership to clinical and non-clinical staff.

This is an interim position with an unknown end date. This position will supervise the evening shift. The hours are 3pm to 11:30pm, including every other weekend and overtime.

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including Vermont and national criminal record checks, adult and child abuse registry checks, the Office of Inspector General exclusion database, and motor vehicle driving record checks where applicable.

Environmental Factors

Duties primarily performed in a clinical and office setting. Work may require travel off-site. Exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, potentially physically and verbally violent patient population and other stressful situations may occur. May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends and extended shifts as the need arises.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont OR eligible to practice in the State of Vermont via a multi-state license AND five (5) years or more of professional nursing experience in the nursing specialty INCLUDING one (1) year or more at a supervisory level OR leading a group or team.

NOTE: Must maintain Vermont or multistate licensure as a Registered Nurse as a condition of employment.

Special Requirements

Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels and for unannounced regulatory inspections and is considered a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime when required is an essential function of this job class.
